The Wilkes School Chorus has had a wonderful year of singing and musical learning. Directed by music teacher George Bareford, the chorus has ventured out beyond the school for a number of adventures. They performed Christmas concerts at the nearby Waxter Center for Senior Citizens and at the Westminster House, where they were treated to a lovely lunch. Another opportunity was to sit in the ballroom of the Garret-Jacobs Mansion (The Engineers’ Club) and watch silent Buster Keaton movies — with live accompaniment by resident organist Michael Britt on the great Wurlitzer theater organ. Later, our students were able to test our playing that organ and to go on a tour of the beautiful mansion.

Many afternoons, they are to be found in the music room, singing about the Nifty Fifty United States and learning about American musical theater. Any interested student in grades two through five is invited to join the chorus!
